Greetings from our President

I, Takeichi Hongo have been appointed as the Executive President of the new-born company, Production Reed Co., Ltd. (former Ashi Productions). Along with Mr. Sato, I hope to be in good relationship with this company for a long period of time.

My personal relationship with Mr. Sato, the former president of Ashi Productions goes way back to 1978, when I joined Bandai Co., Ltd. He had helped me through in both officially and privately and our relationship continues until this very day. At the beginning of my Bandai years, when I was in confusion as a toy developer, Mr. Sato had taught me "the way animation characters ought to be" and this occasion became the beginning of our relationship. The actual project involvement with him was at the release of "Dancouga", where I had joined the project from the toy field. "F-Zero GP Legend" is also a memorable project for me during my Bandai years.

I am feeling a strong connection with this company. Strangely enough, the time when Ashi Productions disconnected from Bandai Co., Ltd. to be a part of the group of Wiz Co., Ltd., and the time when I had left Bandai group and joined the Wiz group happened to coincide. Both Ashi Productions and I had faced the turning point in our lives at the same time. In the recent years, the environment of animation (character) industry have drastically changed and the merchandising business has become more diverse. We are no longer able to see the simplicity of this business 10 years ago. (We rarely see the project planned for 52 episodes anymore.) Though, it seems what Mr. Sato is trying to pursue in characters is truly simple with a clear purpose. I had worked with various partners to produce new animations in the past, but my wish now is to create such simple merchandising projects in the new production company ! That is why I had asked Mr. Sato to draw me in. Needless to say, I am a complete amateur when it comes to the actual production scene and without the help of everyone it could not be materialized. However, I can assure that my desire to produce something very exciting for the children is stronger than anyone.

The "Reed" of Production Reed is the English meaning of "Ashi" which derives from the former company name. As much as we continue to keep the spirit of the Ashi Productions, we will try to produce new projects with all our efforts. We hope to have your generous and continuing support for our new company. Thank you.
